Excellence in Learning (ELCC) is located in Newark, Ohio in the heart of Licking County, and is a community of parents educating their children together. Parents engage in the education of their children at ELCC and are investing in both their children's futures and friendships, and their own! Last year, ELCC served 370 homeschooling students in our community through co-op classes and events. In addition, we reached over 850 families with homeschooling resources, support, and training sessions to help them in their homeschooling.
We welcome all families to join ELCC who are interested in being a part of this thriving community.

For 35 years and counting, Christian Home Educators of Ohio has operated as our state homeschool organization and they are located right here in Licking County! CHEO operates as a year-round ministry to support and encourage all home educating families as they pursue a uniquely-tailored educational path for their children. Visit CHEO online!
Christina's Hullabaloo Performing Arts Theatre is a 501(c)(3) theatre for the Performing Arts concentrating on the youth - ages 7 - 18. "Creativity is essential to living a happy life!" All shows rehearse for 4 weeks and the 5th week is reserved for tech rehearsals and six performances. Rehersals are 3 to 4 times per week - 2 weekdays, Saturday & Sunday. Parents purchase scripts and other materials as needed. Located in the Indian Mound Mall in Heath. Find more information online
Dawes Arborertum hosts Home School Investigations of the second Tuesday (1:30 - 3pm) and Friday (10 - 11:30am)of each month September - May. Home educated students, ages 6 – 10 years old are welcome.
Fee is per student, $5 for members and $7 for non-members. One adult admission is included per registered child. Space is limited and reservations are required. Register at www.dawesarb.org

Volunteer members meet every Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 9:00 pm at 170 Everett Ave, at the back of Everett Park. Visitors are always welcome.
Licking County Homeschool Band
Homeschool Band is hosted at Granville High School in the Band Room each Thursday evening beginning the first Thursday of September. This band has been in existance for over 20 years and has all levels of players - beginners through advanced. Students have the opportunity to compete in OMEA band contests and have been recognized for excellence even at international festivals. Typically ages 12 and up
Beginner Band 6-6:30 pm, followed by full band, jazz band (invitation only) and Steel Drums

Licking County Library: Calling all inquisitive kids! STEAM is ready to roll! Come have fun in this sometimes messy, but always fun program involving science, technology, engineering, art and math. The Downtown Newark location of Licking County Library is set for a fun year of educational events for homeschoolers. Their first meeting for the 2018-19 year is on Tuesday, September 25, from 1 - 2pm. They meet once a month on the third Tuesday at 1pm (with the exception of the first class). This monthly STEAM base, homeschool program is offered for students K-5. As a homeschool teacher, you can also access Teacher Collections for your classroom! Contact Laura to RSVP
The Licking County Park District host Homeschool Happenings each month.
These programs are designed for ages 7 – 12 and happen the second Wednesday of the month (unless otherwise noted). The typical program includes interactive and outdoor activities (weather permitting), crafts and games. Students may reserve a spot by registering online or by calling 740-587-2535 starting August 15th. Drop off is encouraged. Meet at the James Bradley Senior Center.
Little Arrows Play Cafe is a non-profit play space located in downtown Newark for children ages 12 mos. - 8 years old and for their parents and guardians to connect over coffee or play with their children. Enjoy a cup of coffee and free wifi while the kids play. Drop in rates are $1 - $3 or buy a pass for $30 per month. Great way to make friends and meet other homeschooling families! The classic Midland Theatre serves as a vibrant community gathering place, an elegant center of culture and a source of community pride. Sharing the magic of the performing arts with your students, the "Yellow Bus Series" explores concepts like sequencing, retelling and comparing different versions of the same story. At just $5 per person, the value is undeniable. All performances are 45-60 minutes. Homeschoolers are welcome at Yellow Bus performances and can find more information on the Midland's website The Midland also hosts summer workshops!
American Heritage Girls is the premier national character development organization for girls ages 5-18 that embraces Christian values and encourages family involvement. Trail Life USA is a Christian Outdoor Adventure, Character, and Leadership Program for boys and young men - located in Newark, Ohio. This K-12 program centers on outdoor experiences that build a young man’s skills and allow him to grow on a personal level and as a role model and leader for his peers. The Works is a local hands on interactive museum that focuses on History, Art and Technology. At The Works, you can also join a FIRST LEGO Robotics (FLL) team. FIRST is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology offering programs for children grades K – 12. Coach Heidi is the instructor for The HomeSchool Gym in located in Newark, Ohio. This fun extra class is hosted on Tuesdays at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Newark. Cost is $45 for one child, $65 for two children and $85 for three or more kids. (ages 5-8) Time: 10:00-10:45. (ages 9-12)Time: 11:00-11:45 More information is available online
KidX Kid’s Club is a service of the Indian Mound Mall in Heath, Ohio. Check out their website for upcoming events and activities. They host free activities that inspire them to explore their world. "With KidX, “X” marks the spot for members to have fun, playful and educational experiences. Whether it’s expression through art, exploration of a kids safety fair, or the exhilaration of fun fitness activities, KidX brings enriching experiences to members and their families."
The Newark Cultural Arts Center is a space for those with creative passions to develop their interests in an environment dedicated to fostering the Cultural Arts. Morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend classes are offered for both adults and youth. Four - Eight week Classes range in pries from $150 - $200 and cover a variety of topics (weaving, felting, dyeing, painting, watercolors, drawing, art theory)

Altitude Trampoline park is an indoor playground located in the Indian Mound Mall in Heath, Ohio. They open at 11am and offer bouncing for kids of all ages. Special pricing is offered in the mornings for PreK students. Check Facebook for the most up to date events and times.

Homeschool Nerf and Airsoft - Underground Wars the 2nd Wednesday of each month (call in advance, sometimes these are full or cancelled) $6.75 for Nerf (2 hours 10a -12p or 12:30 - 2:30) and $12 for Airsoft (2 hours 3p - 5p)
Homeschool Roller Skating - ZANESVILLE - 2nd Friday of the Month - Lind Arena in Zanesville @11am. Cost is $3 if you bring your own skates and $5 if you need skates. or- Newark - 3rd Wednesday of the Month - Roll-a-way Skate from 1pm - 3pm. Cost is $4.00 per person or $7.00 per family. Regular skates are $1, speed or inline skates are $3 additional per person.

Homeschool Ice Skating - 4th Wednesday of the Month - Lou and Gib Reese Ice Arena in Newark from 10am - Noon. Cost is $3.50 if you have skates and $5.50 if you need skates.
