Science Fair

ELCC hosts a community science fair (open to any home educated student) each year. This year will be our 4th year hosting this event. We have hosted this in conjunction with several local homeschooling groups and we have offered to coordinate with SHHS again this year.

Science fair is open to students of ANY grade. Every student who participates in science fair will receive either a 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, or participant ribbon. There can be many 1st places, 2nd places, 3rd places and Participants. Achieving a place ribbon is based on a point valuation of the project - like 4H - and the science teachers typically serve as 'judges' Judging is friendly and low stress, you just talk about your project.

Students who are in the 5th grade and older, and complete a project using the scientific method, are able to compete in the District 8 Science Fair held in Lancaster at the Ohio University on March 23rd if they receive a superior rating (1st place) on their project - we have already registered for this, there is no need to pre-register with our group.

Our science fair is scheduled for March 3rd, but I anticipate moving it to March 10th to give the students a little more time to complete projects.

If you are in a science class at co-op that is participating in science fair, or if you are just wanting to participate and show what you are learning at home, please complete the registration at the link below. You can complete a research project, or you can do a project using the scientific method - it is completely up to you. Please contact us if you have any questions.
